| Legendary Welsh saint, a noble British maiden, beheaded by Prince Caradog for repelling his unholy proposals. The legend relates that her head rolled down a hill, and where it stopped a spring gushed forth - famous still as a place of pilgrimage, Holywell in Flintshire. Feast day 3 November. |
