| Clergyman and missionary, born in Wessex, England, the brother of St Walburga. He made a pilgrimage to Palestine, and settled as a monk in Monte Cassino (730–40). He was sent by Pope Gregory III to Germany to help his kinsman St Boniface, who made him the first Bishop of Eichstätt. His Hodoeporicon is an account of his pilgrimage to Palestine. Feast day 11 July. |
