| In the New Testament, a Gentile companion of the apostle Paul. He is not mentioned in Acts, but is referred to in Galatians 2 and 2 Corinthians 8.6. Ecclesiastical tradition makes him the first Bishop of Crete. The purported Letter of Paul to Titus gives advice on the way the churches there should be organized. Feast day 6 February (W), 23 August (E). |
