| Prelate and writer, born in Bordeaux, SW France. He became a Christian (398) and went to live in Nola, Italy. Appointed Bishop of Nola (c.409), he wrote letters to Augustine of Hippo, Jerome, and others, and delicate poems, all of which provide a valuable insight into the society of his day. |
