| Patron saint of Bohemia, born in Nepomuk, SWC Czech Republic. He studied at Prague, and became confessor to Sophia, the wife of Wenceslaus IV (ruled 1378–1419). For refusing to betray the confession of the queen, he was tortured and drowned. He was canonized in 1729; feast day 16 May. |
