| biography:
| Frankish historian, born in Arverna (now Clermont). His recovery from sickness, through a pilgrimage to the grave of St Martin of Tours, led Gregory to devote himself to the Church, and he was elected Bishop of Tours in 573. His Historia Francorum is the chief authority for the history of Gaul in the 6th-c. Feast day 17 November. |
