| biography:
| Theologian, born near Orvieto, C Italy. He became a Franciscan (1243), a professor of theology at Paris (1253), general of his order (1257), and Cardinal Bishop of Albano (1273). He was canonized by Sixtus IV (1482), and in 1587 was declared by Pope Sixtus V the sixth of the great Doctors of the Church. Feast day 15 July. |
