| Nun, born in Joigny, C France. Born into a peasant family, she was educated by her older brother Louis. She went on to found the Society of the Sacred Heart, became Mother Superior of its first convent in Amiens (1801), and during her 63 years of tenure established 100 houses in Europe, North Africa, and North America. She was canonized in 1925. |
