| Christian martyr from Catania, Sicily. According to legend, she rejected the love of the Roman consul, Quintilianus, and suffered a cruel martyrdom in 251. She is the patron saint of Catania, is invoked against fire and lightning, and is also the patron saint of bell-founders. Feast day 5 February. |
