| Monk, born in Co Donegal, N Ireland. At 28 he joined the Columbian brotherhood of Iona, and was chosen abbot in 679. He came to support the Roman views on the dating of Easter and the shape of tonsure. His works include the Vita Sancti Columbae (Life of St Columba), which reveals much about the Iona community. Feast day 23 September. |
