| biography:
| Russian saint, the wife of prince Igor of Kiev. She ruled Kiev during the minority of her son (945–64). She was baptized at Constantinople (c.957) and, returning to Russia, laboured to bring Christianity to Russia. She was opposed by her son, but her grandson, St Vladimir I, continued her efforts. Feast day 11 July. |
