| Baseball player, born in Millerton, New York, USA. As a second baseman for the Philadelphia Athletics and Chicago White Sox (1906–30), he compiled a lifetime batting average of ·333. An innocent member of the 1919 ‘Black Sox’ team that deliberately lost the World Series, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939. |
