| Golfer, born in Hot Springs, Virginia, USA. He was the winner of a record 81 tournaments on the US Professional Golfers Association Tour between 1936 and 1965. Professional since 1934, he is credited with 135 victories worldwide. He won the (British) Open in 1946, the US PGA Championship in 1942, 1949, and 1951, and the US Masters in 1949, 1952, and 1954. His six Senior Championships (1964–5, 1967, 1970, 1972–3) are a record. |
