| biography:
| Sculptor, painter, and architect, born in South Orange, New Jersey, USA. After suffering from tuberculosis when young, he studied art at the Art Students League (1933–6) and architecture at Chicago's New Bauhaus (1937–8). He was an apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright (1938–9) and a practising architect in New York City (1940–60). He painted and worked on architectural commissions, taught at many institutions, and was associated with the minimalist school of sculpture. |
