| Physician and ophthalmic surgeon, born in Nantwich, Cheshire, NWC England, UK. With Richard B Todd (1809–60) he published Physiological Anatomy and Physiology of Man (1845–56). He gained a high reputation for his work on the mechanism of kidney function, and also for his Lectures on Operations on the Eye (1849), describing the ciliary muscle. |
