| Anatomist, born in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, SE England, UK. He qualified in medicine in London (1916), and served as medical officer in Borneo before returning to teach anatomy at London and Oxford (1934–62). Distinguished for his work on the anatomy of primates and especially the brain, he helped expose in the 1950s the ‘Piltdown Man’ hoax. |
