| biography:
| Ophthalmologist, born in Sydney, New South Wales, SE Australia. He studied at Sydney University, and served with the Royal Australian Medical Corps in World War 1. He later studied ophthalmology in London before returning to Sydney. After an epidemic of German measles there in 1939, his research proved the link between the incidence of that illness in pregnancy and cataracts or blindness in children. |
