| Economist, born in London, UK. He changed from law to economics at Cambridge under Keynes, spent three years in the City of London, and during World War 2 was a government economist. He became director of the Department of Applied Economics at Cambridge (1945–55) and was appointed professor of economics (1955–80). He was awarded the 1984 Nobel Prize for Economics for his development of the complex models on which worldwide standardized national income accounts are based. |
