| Physicist and botanist, born in Mymensingh, NC Bangladesh (formerly India). He became professor of physical science at Calcutta (1885–1915), then founded the Bose Research Institute there (1917–37). He was known for his study of electric waves, their polarization and reflection, and for his experiments demonstrating the sensitivity and growth of plants. |
