| Surgeon, born in Port Pirie, South Australia. He studied at Adelaide University, Oxford, and London, and was made Nuffield professor of surgery at Oxford (1937). During World War 2 he became adviser on head injuries to the Ministry of Health, and neurosurgeon to the army. |
