| biography:
| Economist, born in London, UK. He studied at Oxford and, apart from a break (1940–2) for service in World War 2, and as adviser to the International Monetary Fund (1952–3), remained there throughout his career (1922–67). He wrote widely as a biographer and on philosophy and logic, as well as economics. His major contributions to economic theory were developed at the same time and independently of those of Polish-born US economist Evsey Domar, leading to the Harrod–Domar model for economic development, set out in his Towards a Dynamic Economics (1948). |
