| Physicist, born in Johannesburg, NE South Africa. He worked at the Groote Schuur Hospital in Johannesburg after graduating in physics at Cape Town University. There he developed a technique for computer-assisted X-ray imaging (CAT scanning) which has proved valuable in diagnostic medicine. He shared the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 1979. |
