| biography:
| Engineer, born in Alwalton, Cambridgeshire, EC England, UK. He began as a railway apprentice, but became interested in electricity and motor engineering, founding the firm of Royce Ltd in Manchester (1884). He made his first car in 1904, and his meeting with C S Rolls in that year led to the formation of Rolls–Royce, Ltd (1906). He was created a baronet in 1930. |
