| biography:
| Organic chemist, born in Gravesend, Kent, SE England, UK. He studied at Imperial College, London, and was professor there for over 20 years, before moving in 1985 to Texas A & M University. He introduced conformational analysis as a method for studying the shape of organic molecules and the effect of shape on reactivity, and shared the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1969. |
