| Psychologist, born in London, UK. He studied at Oxford and Würzburg, becoming professor of education (1924–31) and psychology (1931–50) at University College London. He was largely responsible for the theory and practice of intelligence and aptitude tests, ranging from the psychology of education to the problems of juvenile delinquency. He was knighted in 1946. In the 1980s, the validity of some of his findings was called into question. |
