| Pianist, born in London, UK. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and in Berlin (1928–30). He taught for some years at the Royal Academy, but resigned in 1932 to devote himself to concert work, specializing in Mozart and other Viennese classics. He was knighted in 1971. |
