| Theatrical producer, born in Lindfield, West Sussex, S England, UK. He began his career as an actor, then turned impresario. His spectacular presentation of The Miracle (1911) won him renown as a producer. His most successful production was Bless the Bride by Herbert and Ellis (1947), which ran for 886 performances. He was knighted in 1948. |
