| Plastic surgeon, born in Dunedin, New Zealand. He studied at Otago, the Mayo Clinic, and St Bartholomew's Hospital, and was the most eminent pupil of Harold Gillies. He won fame during World War 2 as surgeon-in-charge at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, West Sussex, where he became known for his work on the faces and limbs of severely injured airmen. |
