| Motion-picture actress, born in New York City, USA. She completed a university education at Stanford and Yale universities before embarking on a film career. Her big break came when she was cast as astronaut Ripley in the film Aliens (1979), a part originally written for a man. Later films include Eyewitness (1981), The Year of Living Dangerously (1983), Ghostbusters (1984), the three Aliens sequels (1986, 1992, 1997), Copycat (1995), The Ice Storm (1997), Get Bruce (1999), Galaxy Quest (1999), and Company Man (2000). |
