| Musician, born near Lucerne, C Switzerland, the son of Richard Wagner. He was trained as an architect, but later became a conductor and composer of operas and other music. He was director of the Bayreuth Festspielhaus from 1909. In 1915 he married Winifred Williams (1897–1980), who later directed the Bayreuth Festivals until 1944. |
