| biography:
| Writer, born in Alessandria, Piedmont, NW Italy. She drew heavily from her own life in her work, becoming known with the proto-feminist novel Una donna (1906). Later novels, such as Amo, dunque sono (1927) and Andando e stando (1942) deal with tortured love affairs and the social commitment that would make her join the Communist Party. Other works include the poem Selva d'amore (1947), and her Lettere (1958) detail her correspondence with fellow writer Dino Campana. |
