| Volunteer and philanthropist, born in Tel Aviv, Israel. She went to the USA in 1927 and studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (1946), later receiving her MA from Antioch University (1979). She was named Woman of the Year by B'nai B'rith Women of Maryland, and also the outstanding citizen by the city of Baltimore (1969). President of the Council of Jewish Federations of New York (1984–7), she was active in a number of other philanthropic, civic, and religious organizations. |
