| Producer, director, theatre critic, and writer for stage and screen, born in Low Ham, Somerset, SW England, UK. He studied at Oxford, joined the BBC (1957), and became known through producing and directing the satirical revue, That Was The Week That Was (1962–3). He has produced a number of plays on stage and television, directed and appeared in Side by Side by Sondheim (1976), co-wrote the script of Ziegfeld (1988), and is a popular member of radio and television panel programmes. |
