| Saudi Arabian politician. He studied at Cairo, New York, and Harvard universities, and was a lawyer before entering politics. Minister of petroleum and mineral resources (1962–86), he was an important and ‘moderate’ member of the Organization of Petroleum-Exporting Countries (OPEC). He founded, and is chairman of, the Centre for Global Energy Studies, a non-profit organization based in London. |
