| Sculptor, born in New York City, USA. He studied dentistry at Columbia (1923–7). Without formal training, he began sculpting in 1928, and first exhibited in 1933. Many of his 1930s works are figurative wood carvings, but during the 1940s he began constructing abstract sculptures from sheet lead. From the 1950s he worked primarily in silver-plated nickel on metal. |
