| biography:
| Composer and performing artist, born in Paris, France. She first sang in cabaret, worked in Brussels, and made her real debut in Paris in 1957 at the Cabaret de l'Ecluse. In her unique and sorrowful voice, she interpreted Brassens, Ferré, and MaCorlan. Her first work, Le Temps du Lilas, introduced ‘Dis, quand reviendras-tu?’ (1959). She began performing in the great concert halls, and began an international career which took her to the New York Metropolitan Opera. Among her leading roles was Mme de Rémo (Forlani). She also appeared in films, such as Aussi loin que l'amour, Franz, and L'Oiseau rare, and supported the fight against AIDS by creating ‘Si d'amour a mort’ in 1987. Her last recital was in 1994. |
