| Conductor, born in Hoten, NE China. Trained in Japan, Paris, and the USA, he then conducted the Toronto and San Francisco Symphonies, before beginning in 1973 his long tenure as conductor of the Boston Symphony. He joined the Vienna State Opera in 2002. |
