| Spanish cinema projectionist. An engineer and naval officer, he began in films in Barcelona and then worked in Paris. He was a creator of special effects for Pathé Studios (1905–11) and in 1907 introduced the ‘dolly’ or ‘travelling platform’ in F Zecca's film Vida, Pasión y Muerte de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo , a technique later perfected in the Italian Pastrone's famous film Cabiria (1914). |
