| biography:
| Kiowa chief, born on the N Great Plains, USA. Under extreme pressure, he signed the Medicine Lodge Treaty of 1867, ceding tribal lands in exchange for a reservation in the Indian Territory. Known for his oratory as well as his bravery, he committed suicide while in prison for a crime he probably did not commit. |
