| Actress, born in Dublin, Ireland. At the Abbey Theatre she created the parts of Juno Boyle and Bessie Burgess in Sean O'Casey's Juno and the Paycock and The Plough and the Stars (1926) respectively. In 1940 she settled in Hollywood, and appeared in over 30 films, including Jane Eyre (1943), The Lodger (1944), and Between Two Worlds (1944). |
