| Law educator, born in New York City, New York, USA. After briefly practising law in New York City (1948–51), he turned to teaching and writing on criminal law. He taught longest at the University of California, Berkeley (1961–4), where he was dean of the law school (1975–82). He wrote several books, including Blame and Punishment - Essays in the Criminal Law (1987), and many articles. |
