| Rabbi, born in Worms, SWC Germany. He was educated, ordained, and served as a rabbi in Germany (1842–57), then came to New York to become rabbi of Temple Emanu-El. He wrote many monographs, and played a leading role in Reform Judaism. His revision of the prayer book became a model for later Reform prayer books. |
