| biography:
| Actor, born in Omagh, Northern Ireland. He moved to New Zealand with his family at the age of seven, and studied at the University of Canterbury. He joined the New Zealand National Film Unit as an actor and director, and moved to Australia in the 1970s, starring in films such as My Brilliant Career (1979). Since then he has featured in many Australian and international films, including Evil Angels (1988, also known as A Cry in the Dark), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Until the End of the World (1991), Jane Campion's The Piano (1993), and Bicentennial Man (1999). |
