| biography:
| Dutch economist and politician, born in Sneek, N Netherlands. A Marxist, he worked on De Vlam and was spiritual leader of the socialist Zionists in The Netherlands. In 1943 he was arrested by the German occupiers and taken to Bergen-Belsen. As he had a ‘Palestina certificate’ he was allowed to go to Palestine, and returned from there in 1945. |
