| Jewish historian and soldier, born in Jerusalem, who commanded a Galilean force during the Jewish Revolt against Rome in 66. He cunningly gained favour upon surrendering to the Romans, and went to Rome, where he produced several writings on Jewish history and religion, including History of the Jewish War (75–9) and Antiquities of the Jews (93). |
