| biography:
| Athlete, born in Chigwell, Essex, SE England, UK. She gained international recognition with a gold medal for the 100 m hurdles in the 1986 Commonwealth Games. She won the 400 m hurdles in the 1992 Olympics, and was world champion and world record holder for the same event in 1993 with a time of 52·74 s. In 1993-4 she became European Cup champion, Commonwealth champion, and World Cup champion in the hurdles. She has written a book about her career, Running Tall (1994). |
