| Footballer, born in Cardiff, S Wales, UK. He made his league debut for Manchester United in 1991, and first played for Wales later that year, becoming the youngest-ever Welsh cap. Twice named the Professional Football Association's Young Player of the Year (1991–2), his honours with Manchester United include the FA Premiership (1993, 1994, 1996, 1997), the FA Cup (1994, 1996), the Rumbelows (League) Cup (1992), and in the 1998–9 season achieved the treble of FA Cup, Premier League Championship, and European Cup. He won a third consecutive league championship in the 2000–1 season. |
