| Physiological chemist, born in Plains, Pennsylvania, USA. She taught science at high schools before earning a PhD at Yale and becoming a professor of chemistry, nutrition, and physiology at Vassar (1926–44). She headed the American Red Cross nutrition service (1917–32) and wrote the American Red Cross Textbook on Food and Nutrition (1927). |
