| Dance notator, born in London, UK. A painter, he married Joan Rothwell (1920– ), born in Liverpool, Merseyside, NW England, UK, a former member of the Sadler's Wells Ballet. Together they copyrighted (1955) a dance notation system, called Choreology, that has been included in the syllabus of London's Royal Academy of Dancing and is used to document all important Royal Ballet productions. They opened their own institute in 1962, and have been a major influence on many notators and educators. |
