| Botanist, born in Tübingen, SW Germany. He followed his father in becoming professor of medicine at Tübingen. He showed by experiment in 1694 that plants can reproduce sexually, and identified the stamens and carpels as the male and female sexual apparatus, respectively. He also described pollination. |
